Egypt has always been on my wanderlust list. Probably because there is so much to experience in that country. The food, culture, music, and ancient history – I want to take it all in when I visit. However, there is one site in particular that I can’t wait to see – the Giza Pyramid Complex. I am absolutely fascinated by the Great Sphinx and the Pyramids of Giza.

Located on the Giza Plateu on the outskirts of Cairo, Egypt, the Giza Pyramid Complex has drawn thousands of sightseers over the years. The Pyramids of Giza include the Great Pyramid of Giza (the only Seven Wonder of the world that still exists), the Pyramid of Khafre, and the Pyramid of Menkaure. The Great Sphinx is one of the world’s oldest and largest structures and is said to date all the way back to the Old Kingdom of Egypt.

These magnificent structures are thousands of years old and carry a particular mystery because of the uncertainty behind their creation. Who built them, why, and how? Most theories regarding the construction are straightforward enough – the Ancient Egyptians. But did they really do this on their own? If not, who helped them … and why?  One thing is for sure, I must see these wonders in person during my lifetime. You should too.
